New National Consultation with Children and Young People on a New National Children's Strategy (2011).
23/02/2026

On behalf of the Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs (OMCYA), Professor Imelda Coyne, Professor Catherine Comiskey and their team at Trinity College are conducting the National Consultation with Children and Young People on a New National Children's Strategy (2011). The National Children's Strategy has guided children's policy and services in Ireland for the last ten years. During the original consultation process children and young people expressed a wish to be consulted on all issues that affect their lives directly.

The consultation process will involve distributing questionnaires to every school in Ireland in March, inviting all children and young people to give their views on being a child in Ireland. The feedback given by children and young people will help inform the new National Children's Strategy.
